We are enjoying the skylights! Now, Rock has been working on the back porch roof! The leaks got worse, so he tore off 6 ft., put in new wood, layed tar paper and is at this moment putting shingles on! I helped him once up there....roofs are not my thing!

Here's our new skylights! What a BIG difference. Rock has been a busy beaver. Only needs to finish in the inside up in dining area. See clouds, blue sky, jets! and trees!

Still looking for pics of the CORN PALACE. Here are a couple of Rock and I at the Museum of Flight in Seattle and 2 of our favorite people on Whidbey Island, WA.

Our trip through So. Dakota was HOT! but fun. We spent time at Wall Drugs in Wall, SD and stayed in town. Lots of pics were taken, as you see above. Sturgis, the bikers dream city, was near and we spent some time there taking pics and buying some "biker stuff" that we will show off in FL at the bike nights.

A few wild burros were on the road from Mt. Rushmore and "attacked" the cars! They were so cute.

The Mall of America is B I G............ 3 floors in a large square with an amusement park in the center, all covered. The Mall is just south of Minneapolis and the bridge that collapsed 2 days after we were there! Went past the bridge but didn't go on it.

Our Kelly married Lisa on June 1. We had a surprise "pre party" for them at our home. I even baked a cake! and it was really good. Everyone had a great day.

I thought I would let you see what Rock has done to our FL home! The outside front needs more grasses planted, which will be done upon our return. My guest "red room" I love! All Japanese/Chinese influence. There is always a project to do in FL!!!
I am having a problem posting! Photo should read "My long time friend Lorraine, and hubby Roger! I can't seem to fix it!

We are finally back in Georgia! Rock has been playing "plumber" and rerouted the washer and one shower outside. A new hose bib for the deck side of cabin, and an electric outlet. The next big project will be a skylight over the dining area.

The trees are full and green, but our county has been declared a disaster area. The TVA lake is down 2 feet from a normal winter level.......some areas are completely dried up. (people still have to pay the "lake front taxes" though)

The heat wave is here also......90 degrees most every day, but cools to 65 early in the a.m.

It's a rainy, dreary day today! The party last night was great. Saw classmates I hadn't seen in so many years! and we all still look the same! (well, some of us!) Going out to friends at Gull Lake today and then we head for Georgia! Will post some pics later tonight.

Today went to classmates house from 1-3pm. Only about 20 there. More will cine for dinner at the Radisson downtown Kalamazoo. Will post pics of that later. Seems as though everyone looks the same, just OLDER! Wonder why? There's always a few that will not come to a class reunion.....reasons? they got too fat, or it's too hard! (those live IN town!).
The "brain" came from Seattle! Has been there since he graduated, and worked for Boeing. This is his first reunion. I have personally made 4 of them.

I am still learning how to create these blogs!! Nothing will be acceptable till I "get it".
The streets up here are horrible, all need repair. It is an "old" town, and I am so glad I live in Florida! I can't believe some of the old houses and buildings are still standing! There are many new buildings, businesses. Kazoo was once named the "Mall City" when they closed the main street to traffic. It was one of the first malls created in the U.S.
I lived on "Christmas Card Lane"............another first. Residents made Christmas cards from wood, painted them, etc. and stood them in their front yards, lit by a single light usually. I don't know whether they do it any more.

A day of riding around past homes/haunts

Hello from sunny Kalamazoo! Went riding today (in car) to find where I used to live on the farm in Lawrence, MI. Couldn't find it! Even called # 1 son to see if he remembered how to get there. Tried, but no weeeeo! Then on to 3 mile lake to find friends......a dry run, so to say. Did, but places aren't numbered, so didn't find # 67. Will go out Sunday to see them.
Computer wouldn't access here at this Best Western till this afternoon, when Rock got a "link" to put into computer. Works at the moment!
Lots of fresh farm fruits and veggies on roadsides.
Had a very nice visit with Florida neighbors in Holland MI yesterday. Took a drive along the lake.

August 1, 2007

We are in Michigan now, on our last leg of our vacation around the states! Heading for Kalamazoo tomorrow and my high school reunion at St. Augustine! There is supposed to be a good turnout. We had about 90 students in our class.
Rock is holding up.......we will both be glad to get back to the cabin in GA and do some serious riding! I am going to try to keep this blog up and keep everyone informed on our travels.
Aren't computers wonderful?????
